OmegaSim Rocket-Fast SPICE
Overview
OmegaSim is the fastest, highest capacity and most accurate Fast-SPICE tool on the market, providing 10X the performance of other Fast-SPICE tools and results within 5% of Berkeley SPICE or its commercial counterparts. It was designed with the requirements of sub-65 nanometer processes in mind, easily handling flattened, post-place and route netlists with millions of devices and parasitics.
OmegaSim is the only SPICE simulator on the market that is current-based, providing more accurate, compact models for a better combination of performance and accuracy. OmegaSim is also the first SPICE tool to offer both multi-threading and multi-processing for an additional performance boost depending upon the number of CPUs. OmegaSim reduces days or weeks of simulation to minutes or hours.
Background
Fast-SPICE was originally created to handle larger circuits, primarily custom digital and memories, where speed was more important than accuracy. With today’s sub-65 nanometer processes, however, digital circuits start behaving more like analog, and the explosion of parasitics dramatically impacts performance. Today's Fast-SPICE requires both speed and accuracy.
Performance
Nascentric’s patented technology enables OmegaSim to perform 10X faster than other Fast-SPICE simulators and 1000X faster than traditional SPICE simulators. With multi-threading and multi-processing the speed advantage can be even greater.
OmegaSim is an order of magnitude faster than other FastSPICE products, yet provides greater accuracy.

Capacity
OmegaSim handles the largest custom digital blocks and memories of any commercial SPICE or Fast-SPICE tool on the market. It was specifically designed to handle the challenges of sub-65 nanometer designs. It has a particular advantage in handling large, flat, post-place and route blocks with millions of devices and millions of backannotated parasitics. OmegaSim identifies and exploits leaf-level similarities so its performance is independent of circuit hierarchy or structure.

OmegaSim performance is independent of circuit structure or hierarchy.
Accuracy
OmegaSim obtains results between 2% to 4% of traditional SPICE. It achieves this accuracy through a patented, current-based approach and meticulous modeling of transistors. OmegaSim analyzes the topology of the circuit to precisely determine silicon behavior, and then applies the appropriate algorithm to achieve the optimal combination of accuracy and performance.
Multi-threading and Multi-processing
OmegaSim was designed from the start to have multi-threading and multi-processing capabilities. For many circuits the speed-up is nearly linear with respect to the number of cores. Other commercial SPICE and Fast-SPICE tools would have to be completely rewritten to achieve this.
Multi-Engine Architecture
OmegaSim uses a unique, patented, army-of-ants approach to divide and conquer complex, mixed-signal designs, thereby maximizing performance and accuracy. It decomposes the circuit into transistors, logic cells, cell blocks, interconnect structures and multiple other design entities that share a unique simulation profile.
